European Development Days 2009
The fourth edition of the European Development Days took place in Stockholm on 22 -24 October 2009. During 2 ½ days more than 5000 people attended presentations and panel discussions by high profile speakers as well as shared their own views with development professionals while visiting stands in the ‘development village’.
Swisscontact was present with a stand in the development village, along with other NGOs, civil society organisations, Think Tanks, policy and research institutes, multilateral organisations as well as global media. We thoroughly enjoyed exchanging views and opinion with the many visitors at our stand and thank everyone who stopped by.
Overarching themes of this year’s panel discussion were the role of Democracy in Development, the Global Economic Downturn, Adapting to Climate Change and the Promotion of Energy Efficiency. Heads of states, representative pressure and campaigning groups, scientists, academics and delegates of international organisations discussed these pressing issues and renewed their commitments to fight global poverty.
